Splatter Platters by Thomas Kelly

We love these modern art glass platters!  Their freeform shapes are reminiscent of the “stretch” bowls and vases from the 1950′s.  Each platter is hand blown in brightly colored transparent glass with contrasting lip wraps and comes with a pair of specially hand forged hanging fixtures.  Beautiful displayed as tabletop centerpieces or eye-catching wall art.  Signed by the artist.  Great for the contemporary home!  See dimensions$535 each.

Beautiful! Hand Felted Bowls by Patty Benson

July 23, 2009
Hand Felted Dot Vases by Patty Benson.

Hand Felted Dot Vases by Patty Benson.

Based on form, function, and bold color, Patty Benson’s fiber art utilizes the time-consuming technique of crocheting and wet felting wool to create tactile pieces with a contemporary twist.

Her fiber art combines her love of wool and modern home decor.  “Felted wool doesn’t have to look old-school,” she says.  “I enjoy applying the ancient technique of felting to modern design and creating new, functional uses for the art form.”

She stands behind a non mass produced sensibility and enjoys working with wool because it is a renewable resource.  Each piece is lovingly created in her one-woman home studio.

After speaking with Ingrid Hanson a few times over the past couple of years when doing art searches for customers, I finally got to meet her at the 2009 Oklahoma City Festival of the Art’s.  She and Ken are great folks!  I enjoyed meeting them.  The winds were high all week long so this year’s festival was a bit trying for many of the artists.  I think they were all troopers.

BeautifulBowls.com has now added a couple of new blown glass vessels by Hanson & Kastles Art Glass.  They’re really beautiful.  Hope you’ll take a look.

Ken and Ingrid Hanson are a husband and wife glass blowing team from the San Francisco Bay area. They began blowing glass in 1992 and started collaborating on their work from the beginning. Since that time, they have developed several series of work that reflect their personal visions and interpretations of contemporary American Art glass.
