Beautiful! Hand Felted Bowls by Patty Benson
July 23, 2009Based on form, function, and bold color, Patty Benson’s fiber art utilizes the time-consuming technique of crocheting and wet felting wool to create tactile pieces with a contemporary twist.
Her fiber art combines her love of wool and modern home decor. “Felted wool doesn’t have to look old-school,” she says. “I enjoy applying the ancient technique of felting to modern design and creating new, functional uses for the art form.”
She stands behind a non mass produced sensibility and enjoys working with wool because it is a renewable resource. Each piece is lovingly created in her one-woman home studio.

Art Glass by Ken & Ingrid Hanson
May 7, 2009
Elegant, fluted art glass bowl, reminiscent of summer blossoms in a green mountain meadow. Murrini and silver leaf on an aquamarine background speckled with shades of blue, green, and white. Bright apple-green interior and black lip wrap. A wonderful, contemporary blown glass vessel!
After speaking with Ingrid Hanson a few times over the past couple of years when doing art searches for customers, I finally got to meet her at the 2009 Oklahoma City Festival of the Art’s. She and Ken are great folks! I enjoyed meeting them. The winds were high all week long so this year’s festival was a bit trying for many of the artists. I think they were all troopers.
BeautifulBowls.com has now added a couple of new blown glass vessels by Hanson & Kastles Art Glass. They’re really beautiful. Hope you’ll take a look.
Ken and Ingrid Hanson are a husband and wife glass blowing team from the San Francisco Bay area. They began blowing glass in 1992 and started collaborating on their work from the beginning. Since that time, they have developed several series of work that reflect their personal visions and interpretations of contemporary American Art glass.

Elegant, statuesque art glass vase with murrini flowers and silver and gold leaf on a deep black background. Red lip wrap. An absolutely beautiful contemporary blown glass vessel! Signed.

Blown Glass Flowers – Springtime!!
April 20, 2009New! These beautiful blown glass bouquets, set in fluted vases with iridescent detail, are created by Dottie Boscamp.
Boscamp enjoys working with molten glass because it is so responsive. Every moment of every second affects the glass.
“The glass blowing process is similar to dancing,” says Dottie, “because I am always moving and responding to my partner, the glass.”
Dottie graduated from Illinois State University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in art with an emphasis in photography and glass. She learned an enormous amount from her instructor Jack Wax, a noted glass artist and veteran educator, including such processes as glass casting, vessel blowing, and hot and cold blow molds.
Dottie has recently opened her own glass studio where she creates beautiful works of art, gives live glass blowing demonstrations, and teaches her art to others.

Beautiful Pottery for Sushi & Sake
April 2, 2009New work by Karen Ford!

Sushi Platter, Sake Set, Fluted Bowl, & Soy Bowl - Porcelain with Tenmoku Glaze and melted glass detail.
Artist Bio:
She took her first pottery class over a decade ago and has been enamored with clay ever since. She sees the potter’s wheel as a vehicle that enables her to join movement and spontaneity. She prefers simple shapes and steers clear from fussy decoration because she believes the marriage between clay, form and glaze speaks for itself.
Karen’s current work is a collaboration between clay, fire and glass. Small bits of glass melt during the glaze firing leaving a “pool” of translucent color in the bottom of the bowls. These small puddles of glass fuse with the glaze leaving a smooth surface. They can be gem-like, reminiscent of semi-precious stones or ice formations. Each firing yields different results so replication is next to impossible.
Her functional serving pieces are meant for sushi and other communal foods and, when not in use, make stunning display pieces. Karen hopes to enhance the everyday ritual of eating by making it a beautiful and unique experience.
